What Missouri Physicians Need to Know: The Supreme Court Decision and Beyond

Cynthia Brown, Vice President for Governmental Affairs for the American Medical Association, will describe the effects of the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent ruling on the Affordable Care Act and its ramifications for Missouri physicians.

Jerry Kennett, MD, Vice President, Chief Medical Officer, Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo., and a member of the American Medical Association Council on Legislation, will discuss physician quality measurement and the benefits of measuring processes and outcomes.

A.J. Delaney, MD, is a family physician at the Clay Platte Family Medicine Clinic, a Physician Practice Connections Patient-Centered Medical Home as recognized by the National Committee on Quality Assurance, and will speak on the Patient-Centered Medical Home, and how it emphasizes the importance of the physician-patient partnership.

James Rogers, MD, is the Clinical Vice President for Adult Primary Care and the Medical Director for the Physician Group Practice transition demonstration project with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services with Mercy Health System in Springfield, Mo. He was Board Chair for Primaris, the Quality Improvement Organization for Missouri, and will discuss ACOs, shared savings, and care transformation.

John C. Morris, MD, is the Director of the Charles F. and Joanne Knight Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, Memory and Aging Project at Washington University School of Medicine. He will discuss targeting early diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease, and the Missouri Alzheimer’s State Plan Task Force recommendations, as commissioned by the 95th Missouri General Assembly.

With over 25 years of health care industry experience, Ron Present is a Principal and the Health Care Advisory Services practice leader for Brown Smith Wallace LLC in St. Louis. He will discuss the pros and cons, the logistics, and the pitfalls of physician-hospital alignment.
