Physician's Guide to Medicine - Dialysis

Who may lawfully initiate dialysis?

(1) A licensed physician;

(2) A registered nurse; or

(3) It is not an unlawful practice of medicine for an employee of a certified end-stage renal disease facility who has been appropriately trained in the dialysis techniques to initiate dialysis within a certified end-stage renal disease facility under the supervision of a licensed physician or registered nurse.
