Physician's Guide to Medicine - Home Health Care
What is required for a physician who supervises care rendered through a home
health agency?
A plan of treatment must be established for each patient receiving nursing,
physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, home health aid, or
medical social service at the patient's home on a part-time or intermittent
basis.
The plan of treatment must be reviewed and signed as often as medically
necessary by the physician, not to exceed sixty days duration. The plan
prescribes items and services required for the individual's condition.
