Samantha Lund, writing on behalf of the MSMA Medical Student Section Board, in strong support of this resolution. We thank the author for raising this issue. We believe this resolution is important as it asks the MSMA to follow policy in line with current AMA policy. In addition, we believe it is important to provide medication-assisted treatment to all patients with opioid use disorder, including those in correctional facilities. Given the high rate of opioid use disorder in correctional facilities, we believe this resolution is especially timely. Thank you.

This is great that you are submitting this resolution. It is really important for multiple reasons including death rate from overdose upon release. I would recommend changing Medication-Assisted Therapy to either Medication for Addiction Treatment or Medication for Opioid Use Disorder.
