#WomenForWomenMO

WPS’ social media campaign is for Missouri’s women physicians to promote achievement, advancement, and leadership.

Follow the  WPS Twitter (https://twitter.com/WPSmsma), as we post self- and colleague submissions for recent accomplishments of Missouri’s women physicians.

How it works
  1. Nominate/submit yourself or a female colleague for a recent accomplishment, promotion, journal publication, leadership position, etc., using this Google form.
  2. MSMA will post each submission to feature the accomplishments of our members and all women physicians of Missouri.
  3. As women are featured, they’ll be alerted to the feature and be requested to submit a name and accomplishment of a fellow colleague or acquaintance. This submission can then be used as a future feature to build a catalog of accomplishments.

Share the Google form with your colleagues and other WIMs groups to start submitting. We’d love to have an over-abundance of submissions to start off September. Follow us on the following social media sites. Like, love, retweet, and repost anything we share. We are still building our social media presence, follow us and stay tuned!

WPS One Year Anniversary!

One year and counting! In 2019, the MSMA Women Physicians Section was formed to represent women physicians of Missouri. We are a subgroup of the Missouri State Medical Association with the following guiding mission:

"To enhance leadership among Missouri’s women physicians, better engage women physicians in the MSMA, address issues unique to the practice of women physicians, and advocate on behalf of women’s health issues and the health of women physicians."

Over the past year, we advanced our mission, passing policy that the MSMA support gender equity throughout all aspects of medical practice and at every level of physician training. Our MSMA has also sent letters to the Missouri Hospital Association and the Deans of Missouri’s medical schools encouraging hospitals, academic institutions, and other healthcare organizations in Missouri to a) use objective, gender-neutral criteria in pay structures and processes of promotion, and b) adopt institutional transparency of compensation, and regular gender-based pay audits.

If you would like this same letter to be sent to your hospital/practice leadership, email Heidi Sutherland at heidi@msma.org to inquire and share contact info.
