![]() | Missouri Medicine Editor John C. Hagan, III, MD, FAAO John C. Hagan, III, MD, FAAO, an ophthalmologist has served over 25 years as Editor of Missouri Medicine. Under his leadership, the Journal improved in quality, reputation, and excellence of content. Presently each Journal issue publishes 10 to 14 scientific articles and has an average size of 78 pages or when necessary, such as COVID-19, more than 100 pages. Medical articles are up-to-date reviews and original research including more than a dozen first-literature reports. Medical, legal, opinion, perspectives, and MSMA matters are also important content. Missouri Medicine is considered one of the top state medical journals in the United States. Besides being indexed at PubMed, the Journal is now archived at PubMed Central and has a national footprint. Dr. Hagan, an MSMA member since 1975, has authored more than 200 scientific articles, contributed to or edited five medical textbooks, and is actively involved in clinical research. He writes and lectures on the international level. He has won several awards for his writings. Dr. Hagan has served in leadership for many organizations including President of Clay-Platte County Medical Society, Kansas City Metropolitan Medical Society, the Missouri Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons, and has been honored by many of these organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology. |
